I loved this book when I first read it, over forty years ago. I found its insight into the causes of the mutiny thrilling - far more complex and exciting than the film version of the incident.

I was completely convinced by the author's suggested reason for Christian's original rift with Bligh, and excited by her suggested candidate for the true /5.

Back in the s a blockbuster movie was made which reappears almost every year on the Christmas TV schedule.
